The Winery was founded in 1961 in Guastameroli di Frisa by a small group of eager, local vine dressers. Today, after a long and challenging experience, Colle Moro is finally achieving the praise of an ever-growingand demanding public, thanks to the quality of its wine and the passion and tenacity that characterizes its work.
Over more than 50 years of activity, we have constantly developed our skills and professionalism, paying great attention to the changes in our sector and in the consumers’ taste. We aim to continuously improve our products, pursuing a strong and competitive presence on the market.
According to its articles of association, our Cooperative is a non-profit company; thus, the operating results are used for paying the grapes, distributing the amounts among the partners.
Our company currently consists of about 670 partners who grow vines in 15 different municipalities, with an overall area of about 1,600 hectares that produce an average of 25.000 tons of grapes. These are the wonderful vineyards that cover the territory of Frisa; after being processed with skilfulness and devotion, they produce the great wines of this land.
The grapes, mainly grown in the municipalities of Frisa, Lanciano, San Vito Chietino, Ortona, Casalbordino and Torino di Sangro, are red (Montepulciano, Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet) and white (Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano
Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti, Chardonnay) as well as some native grape varieties like Moscato di Frisa, Pecorino, Passerina and Cococciola.
ASince 1999, Colle Moro has considered quality as a strategic aim to ensure customers’ satisfaction, certifying its production process with all the most modern national and international quality systems. We chose this method to ensure the best quality of the wine we bring to your table.
The heart of our activity is our winery, an essential place for a wine production that aims at a special place on the table of wine fans. We have paid great attention to the production and ageing aspects, constantly promoting the technological
and structural improvement of the house of our wines.
We are currently equipped with an oak barrel room with an overall capacity of 1,500 hectolitres, a bottling plant that can produce about 1,000,000 bottles per year, a cooling system that can condition and control all the production quality of Colle Moro DOP and IGP wines.
